Hi lovies 🖤

Today I wanna talk to you about a manicure technique called Russian manicure. There are a lot of articles about this but only from the nail technician’s perspective. So, I wanted to share my experience with those of you that haven’t tried it yet 💅🏼

I get my nails done at the Epicure Ladies Center here in Copenhagen by Marina and I really enjoy it! I love the ambience of the salon and always have a great time when I’m there. You are always welcomed friendly by employees and offered something to drink. To my impression, they don’t overbook but take their time with every client, leading to better results. Additionally, I’m a big fan of Marina’s professionalism. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations but dropped working in that industry to pursue her passion, which only proves her dedication to her work more. This lady is a total perfectionist and has a big pool of knowledge and experience as a nail technician. She explains every step of her methods and gives you a grounded reason for everything, which is quite refreshing for a change! I’ve been to a lot of nail salons in my life and have never felt so good taken care of in terms of professionalism. I can really recommend her with a good conscious! 👍🏼

That said, Marina is also the first one to tell me about this Russian manicure technique. So, what is it?

WHAT IS A RUSSIAN MANICURE?

A Russian manicure is a technique that makes use of an electronic file to remove the excess skin surrounding your nail bed. It’s said to avoid cutting the nail too aggressively and allows the nail technician to be more in control, compared to when using nippers. This leaves your nails perfectly trimmed and smooth around the edges, resulting in a very clean finished look.

I’ve done my research on this method and people don’t seem to have reached a consensus about it. I’ve read a lot of articles, claiming that this method is unhealthy or even dangerous because of the potential infection it can cause when cutting into the skin. The only way I can see this as damaging is if the nail technician does not have the necessary skill set to perform it the right way. I have not experienced this supposedly damaging or unhealthy ramifications in any way. On the contrary, my nails feel great! The cuticles don’t grow back the same way but stay clean for a very long time.

Do you have any experience with this? If so, comment below 💅🏼
