A Daytrip to Tairua, New Zealand

tairua-new-zealand

We decided to do a day trip to Tairua, New Zealand while staying in Coromandel. It is a truly beautiful spot and it looks like a picture perfect postcard.

There is a large hill where you can drive up to near the top, then take a short walk to look down on the breathtaking views of the fishing village and scenery below.

Legend has it, that if you make the trip to the top you will return and live there! I well believe it, it is one of those places that stays in your mind forever…

I have compiled a photo diary of the area so you can see for yourself!

All in all, we had a great day exploring Tairua and it is a real gem of a place to visit. You wouldn’t even realise the sheer beauty of the place if you were just to drive through it. I had done so in the weeks previous as I was on my way to Coromandel and hadn’t got time to stop by. I knew I would have to come back and discover more of the area and spend some time there again.

As I was living in Coromandel for a few months, a friend of mine came to visit the area so I met up with her as she had decided to stay in Tairua on her way to Coromandel. We were really blown away by the scenery and it didn’t feel touristy at all. It was a relaxing day out and I highly recommend stopping by if you are on your way to Coromandel or Thames. There were some lovely accommodation options I noticed there too.

If you are travelling the North Island in New Zealand you should not miss Coromandel and the surrounds.

Let me know if you visited the area and if you have any other recommendations! I hope to go back there some day and maybe even retire there!
