Like most brides-to-be, committing to a china pattern was a big deal for me.
I spotted these Villeroy & Boch Audun dishes in a department store in Pittsburgh in 1998. When I got engaged in 2001, I registered for them…now in 2016, they still make me a little weak in the knees.
It cannot be denied that I am still crazy about the design and sturdiness of my Audun dishes even after 15 years.
My mom, on the other hand, had a real plate addiction. She never settled on just one set. Her cabinets are full of many styles and patterns of dishes. I love each of them and appreciate her not settling on just one…but I am not the same and admittedly even a little frugal.
However, after our kitchen remodel, I undeniably longed for a little update and newness in my dishware too.
Simple solution…I started mixing and matching my plates with fresh white plates. And it didn’t break the bank because you can find white dishes at an inexpensive price at stores like Homegoods!
Mixing white dishes with your current china can transform the look of your table settings or plate displays. If you play with layers of pattern and white plates and add some texture to your table, you can give your old china new life.
By adding white dishes and accessories, I can make my traditional pastoral plates more rustic or more modern.
I love the way it makes my Audun dishes pop!
