Patterned wallpaper has come back in a big way but also in a more subtle way.
Gone are the days of wall-to-wall pattern and good riddance to that!
Feature walls are the way to go.
You can really embrace bold patterns with the use of a feature wall.
Otherwise pattern can be a bit overwhelming or dizzy on the eyes, especially in a large room.
Proportion is important so always judge the size of your pattern against the size of the room.
For instance if you have a large room with a high ceiling, then you are fine to go with a large bold pattern.
However, a tiny pattern on a huge wall may be a bit harsh on the eye.
Here are a few ideas of what looks good as a feature wall.
The Bold stripe is really striking here and makes a great focal point in a hallway. The modern look can mix well with traditional styles. The silver really gives it that unique touch. Very tactile and pleasing on the eye. One wall is enough to give the wow factor.
This bold and interesting trippy retro wallpaper looks amazing as a feature wall in a retro pad.
The colors are quite modern and look fab. The right furniture sets the theme.
Here is another fine example of a modern retro theme. The geometric shape is bang on trend and makes a real feature of this wall.Â
This classic contemporary design is a nice focal point. The colors are muted but the shiny pattern stands out.
This fresh and airy tie dye style wallpaper makes a plain room really interesting.
The one wall rule applies here due to the small pattern but this looks great!
The Honolulu Palm is very on trend with the botanical theme. It looks amazing as a backdrop.
This gorgeous teal damask really sets the scene for a luxurious room.
It is elegant and beautiful for that expensive feel.
This Art Deco black and gold is a real classic look.
Perfect for the theme here. Great Gatsby style modern Art Deco.
This modern black patterned optical illusion wallpaper is a real showpiece.
A great feature wall and focal point that draws the eye. Very cool and sure to give that modern elegance to a hallway.
So those are a few inspiring looks for a feature wall. Feature walls can be in any room of the house.
A little imagination goes a long way and can really make a room stand out.
Dont shy away from pattern, be bold!
Happy designing!
