6 things to do in Sydney in winter by Dan Elson
Brrrrr.
Coming from the United Kingdom I never dreamt I’d have to put a hoodie on. But it’s happened, it’s officially winter here in Sydney!
Now that it’s winter, the number one thing to do in Sydney the beach, has all but gone! Boo!
But don’t worry, Sydney has tons to offer besides its beaches!
Let’s go through my top 6 things to do in Sydney in winter!
Eat in!
That’s right, don’t go out and feel the Sydney chill and eat in!
Sydney has some of the best restaurants, whatever your mood, and these can all be eaten in your home thanks to UberEats!
Get the app on your phone and BOOM off ya go! The only problem you will encounter is having to decide which food tickles your fancy!
Visit Sydney’s Museums
You’ve been meaning to go and do the cultural things but the beach just got in the way!
Well now’s your chance – visit Sydney’s museums!
Sydney has some of the very best and most interesting museums and what better way to forget it’s winter by visiting a museum in the warm indoors!
Which you’re asking? Well join me on the journey of the very best….
Firstly I’d recommend the Powerhouse Museum, which is the “Museum of Applied Arts & Sciences”. Then head to the Museum of Sydney, where you’ll learn everything you need to know about Sydney.
And finally, go to the Australian Museum if you’re interested in fossils or learning about Australia’s wildlife!
Drink beer!
Yes, go warm yourself up with a nice and cool beer – in doors of course!
One of my recent faves is Young Henry’s brewery over in Newtown. It’s cool, hipster and offers pints for under ten bucks, yes, under ten bucks in Sydney! And it’s bloody nice too.
Do be warned though, it’s day drinking as it shuts up shop even on the weekends by 7pm (go after 6pm and it no longer serves pints either!)
Sealife Sydney Aquarium
You’ve been meaning to go but you just haven’t got round to it…
The Sealife Sydney Aquarium is ace if you haven’t already been to the big pond up in the north of Australia!
It’s a must visit, and winter is the best time to do just that!
Walk from Bondi Beach to Coogee Beach
It might be a little chilly but grab a jumper and get your walking shoes on and take on the amazing coastal walk from Bondi Beach to Coogee Beach!
What better time to do this walk before it gets too hot to even move!
Yum down a Sunday roast
Go warm yourself up and have a English old fave with a Sunday roast.
Yes Sydney offers the traditional feast of the english in a number of its pubs.
One of Sydney’s oldest and most loved English pubs, The Lord Dudley in Paddington offers a famous one in front of its open fireplace.
Where as the Local Taphouse in Darlinghurst has over 20 craft beers on tap to sample along with its roast beef and Yorkshire pudding!
Go fill that belly!!
That’s it! That’s my 6 things to do in Sydney in winter! Leave a comment with your Sydney winter tips below!
