Considering the fact that your home can affect your mood and behaviour, it’s important that you design an inspiring and relaxed environment that will motivate you to acquire healthy habits. By combining different elements and creating a balanced and harmonious ambience that exudes tranquillity and serenity, you’ll be able to transform your home into a true personal sanctuary that will enhance your well-being.

Embrace the light

Living spaces with plenty of natural light have an atmosphere of openness and airiness that can contribute to positive mood and motivation. Furthermore, studies have shown that bright rooms can relieve depression and anxiety, promoting a better state of mind. Light is also one of the most important elements of feng shui. Thus, remove your dark curtains and welcome the sunlight to your home, while also using plenty of artificial lighting. In the bedroom, on the other hand, you should minimise the light in the evening, including the blue light from electronics, to ensure that you get quality sleep.

Introduce a bright colour scheme

Since colours can have a major impact on your mood, it’s important that you surround yourselves with bright and soothing colours to create an atmosphere of peacefulness. A pastel palette of bright yet muted tones will inspire relaxation, while simultaneously contributing to the brightness of your home. Earthy tones are another perfect choice for a Zen-inspired home that will fill your living space with natural energy.

Welcome nature

There’s nothing more inspiring and calming than nature itself. With plenty of natural materials and design ideas, you can create a beautiful nature-inspired home. Wood is a stylish and timeless choice – you can use it for your floors, as well as furniture. Natural stone is yet another chic option that you can use for a trendy stone wall in your kitchen or stone floor in your bathroom to give it a spa-like vibe. You can also add lamps made of Himalayan salt and reap numerous benefits.

A bike and indoor plants

Houseplants are an essential element of soothing and healthy homes. Not only will they add a touch of calming green to your space, but they will also purify your air from toxins, making your living space healthier and more enjoyable. Furthermore, taking care of plants will award you with a sense of gratitude and responsibility, while helping you reconnect with nature and find your inner peace. Snake plants, Aloe Vera, bamboo palm, dracaena and others are low-maintenance plants that will keep your air fresh and your home colourful.

Declutter for motivation

minimalist clean space

A cluttered home means a cluttered mind, so no wonder that Feng Shui principles don’t allow clutter in a home. A cluttered and messy home will affect your mood, cause anxiety and lower your productivity. A clean and organised space, on the other hand, will motivate you and enhance your efficiency. Thus, you should eliminate all the unnecessary items from your home and create a harmonious and organised look. If you have a home office, create an open and airy atmosphere by decluttering your space and surrounding yourself with incense sticks that enhance concentration.

Organise for exercising

yoga mat

Sometimes it’s really difficult to get yourself moving when all you want to do is wrap yourself up in a blanket and spend a day watching your favourite movies. However, you can create a motivating environment that will inspire you to work out. You should always keep your yoga mat at hand and hang your comfortable gym clothes somewhere where you can see them instead of burying them deep in your closet. You can also create an accent blackboard wall where you can write inspirational quotes that will help you achieve your fitness goals.

Equip for a healthy diet

Instead of a bag of chips, you should keep a basket of fruit on your table to remind yourself to eat healthy snacks. In addition, you should drink plenty of water throughout the day, so keep water pitchers around your home so that you always have water at hand.
When equipping your kitchen, you should choose appliances that will inspire a healthy diet, such as a blender for nutrient-rich smoothies or an indoor grill where you can prepare fat-free meat and crispy vegetables.

Designing a clean, clutter-free and balanced home will help you acquire healthy habits and change your lifestyle.
