Curls Allowed Subscription Box Review

I was delighted to discover the Curls Allowed box as it is a really good quality curl subscription box and fantastic value for money. I had been searching for a good curly hair box for a long while but they all seemed quite expensive so I jumped at the chance to try it, when I finally came across it. I follow the Curly Girl method so that means I can’t use any harsh chemicals in my hair including sulphates and silicons. What really attracted me to the Curls Allowed box apart from the price was that they do boxes specifically for people following the Curly Girl method!

You can be safe in the knowledge that you are getting top quality and highly popular products. So many cool products to try! They give you a sneak peek of one item from the box, which in this months July box was a large sachet of the Boucleme Intensive Moisture Treatment hair mask. I had been researching Boucleme products and considered buying it already so I was keen to get my hands on the large sample. It strengthens hair, enhances curl definition and balances moisture.

I had good look online to find some spoilers but couldn’t find any at all so that just made it all the more exciting. The surprise element is one of the best parts of getting a subscription box. I checked out the previous boxes and their reviews and all seemed great so I went ahead and ordered.

I found out later that day after joining their Facebook group that the boxes had sold out for July. I was glad to be getting mine so couldn’t wait for it to arrive as I was keen to find out what other natural curl hair products I was getting. I love receiving goodies in the post.

To my surprise and delight, I got a whole set of products in the box! A curling gel, conditioner, hair and body butter, natural mask tub and the Boucleme mask. I was so happy to see that the curling gel and organic hair mask tub were full size products. The rest were genuinely handy and good size samples that would get a fair bit of use and really help you decide if you love them enough to purchase the full size.

The As I Am Curling Jelly helps define, hold and naturally moisturise curls for a frizz-free finish. It is very easy to apply and works wonders! My hair stayed in place all night even through the heat and humidity of an outdoor concert and still looked the same as when I had styled it on my way out. Really impressed with the gel. It’s a keeper.

The Organic Shop pomegranate and patchouli Natural Hair Mask. I was impressed that it is Soil Association certified so there are 98% natural origin ingredients with no paragons or silicons. It is invigorating and leaves the hair silky, shiny and soft. What more would you want from a hair mask? It comes in a range of different scents too. You can leave it in for 3 mins or up to an hour for a more intensive hydration boost.

The Eden Bodyworks Citrus Fusion Conditioner is infused with Vitamin C, Acai, orange and lime. It is rich in nutrients which nourish and strengthen the hair. It helps reduce frizz too so I was really happy with the conditioner. I would definitely buy the full size when I’m finished with it.

Eden Bodyworks Citrus Fusion Hair and Body Butter. The moisturising and lightweight hair and body butter is rich and leaves your skin and hair silky soft. It smells lovely and is a really handy product. Ideal for summer holidays. It absorbs quickly and works a treat.

The Boucleme Curls Redefined Intensive Moisture Treatment is a deep nourishing treatment which restores moisture that strengthens and revitalises dry and damaged hair. It improves elasticity and shine while defining your curls. What a fab multi-tasker! It is free from silicones, sulphates, mineral oil, petroleum, propylene glycol and artificial fragrance. I have to say I will be trying more from the Boucleme range after this! Big hit. I hear their gel is amazing also so I think this will be my next curly hair purchase!

The Curls Allowed Facebook page is a great community of curly haired women who discuss methods and swap tips for achieving the perfect natural curly hair so it is a great resource too. I just found out today that the August box is Curly Girl approved too which means it will be safe SLS free and silicon free products again. I am so getting that! Hopefully it doesn’t sell out to quickly if you want to grab it this month. I highly recommend it, fab value for money and wonderfully well-chosen items from experts in curly hair.
